Hello from another incredibly hot evening at New Godrama Dhama near Lanchang in Malaysia.
This evening I`m sat here with a bright yellow left foot. I`ll explain all in a moment.
Yesterday we were joined by two volunteers from Russia. A young girl and a guy travelling together but not a couple as such. I know that some Eastern Europeans have difficulty forming the 'Th' sound, as in Thursday, so I broke the ice by asking each of them to say Thursday whch caused a few light hearted laughs.
Last night I began to feel a little weary. The bites are taking their toll. I think I must have now had around 50 bites, with more appearing each day and my legs, arms and feet are not a pretty sight. However, last night I had a new problem. My left foot swelled up and I began to feel an excruciating pain.
Unable to easily walk today, I didn`t venture out but our water filter at the volunteers bungalow broke and so I had to struggle down to the canteen to get fresh water. Good job it`s not far.
I`ve been trying various treatments for my bites. Mosquito balm, tiger balm, plain old germoline and one of the girls, Sarah, has given me some insect repellent and some anti histomines to try.
And then this evening, Arnaud, who you`ll meet in one of my video`s when I can get it uploaded and who seems to know all there is to know about plants and nature concocted a natural remedy for me. Ginger, Garlic, Salt, and Tumeric, hence the bright yellow foot, all boiled up together in water. I didn't know whether I was supposed to drink it or put my foot in it.
To be honest my foot is feeling a little better now. But was it the spicy concoction or was it the anti histomines?
I may pop into Lanchang tomorrow and try to find a pharmacist. I may even sit in a roadside restaurant and order a cold beer. It`s been over a week now and so I`ll appreciate it for sure.
