Quite a lot has happened here in the last few days. First of all, I am now in Old Penang which is on the mainland, not on the island. A spectacular new Krishna Temple is being built here which is to be officially opened in August. It has taken over 8 years to build and is the first Krysha Temple of it`s kind in Malaysia. Stuningly beautiful. I expect to be here until early next week before returning to Kuala Lumpur and then back to the farm.
On Tuesday I was driven from the farm to the Iskcon Centre in Kuala Lumpur where I met Lindy from Belgium who is working on marketing and is assisiting with content for the Iskcon Malaysia websites. As I am working on the video content for the websites, we`re more or less working together. Later that day we were driven up to Penang by Simheswara in a Kryshna mini bus with the logo, 'Chant Hari Kryshna. Be happy' emblazoned on it.
The community here are really great, very friendly and their are quite a few women devotees here too who look wonderful in there colourful saris. And I`m now getting to see the Kryshna ceremonies take place as we`re staying in the Kryshna centre here which is in the grounds of the new Temple construction. Later today I`m looking forward to a festival taking place here to celebrate the full moon. I`ll be shooting some video at the festival of course.
It seems like my desire to visit India may soon be realised as yesterday at lunch I was introduced to the consultant on the Temple project and his wife who live in India and have indicated I can stay with them if I go over there. Sounds like a future plan.
I`m also now considering producing a, sort of, video tour of Iskcom centres around Asia (initially) as I feel very confortable with these guys and, although I could never see myself as a Kryshna devotee, as they call them, with short hair and safron robes and a complete devotion to Lord kryshna, I do enjoy their company and appreciate what they stand for. I suspect that the world would be a much better place if we could all reach the spiritualist place of Kryshna conciousness.
One problem I have here is that my desire to lose weight is severly under threat as the food here is delicious, as it is at all the Kryshna Centres I`ve so far visited, and it usually comes in abundance three times daily. Hari Kryshna.
