Update from Thailand Thurs 25 June. Local Time: 8am. I intended to send the following post last night when I arrived in Trat but it has been raining almost non stop here for the pat 3 days. Just as I was about to press 'post', there was a power cut and the town was plunged into blackness. However, this morning it is still raining but at least the power is back on. Here is the post... Safely arrived in Trat and back at the UV English Club at around 6pm this evening . It was dry when we left Bangkok but as we drove further south it got wetter and wetter. Massive tropical downpours since arriving here. Never seen rain like it before. But it is the rainy season here after all. Thank you to my good friend Sirinthip (Thip) for driving me down here. I have some video of our journey down here which I`ll edit and post soon. On the way here we called into he local hospital in Trat to get my stitches removed. Cost just 200 Bht (£4) and all done in about 15 minutes from arrival. Good to see my friend Meaw, owner of the English Club, again. There are a couple of new volunteer teachers here, one from the U.S. and from from England. I`ll introduce you to them later on here when I finally get settled back in.
Exhausted... think I over did it with my little shopping trip to the local mall with Thip this afternoon. Needed some footwear and clothes though as all my stuff is still in Trat, Southern Thailand. I`m still in Bangkok but around 20/25 minutes drive from the centre and the local shopping mall is just up the road and around the corner. Thip drove me there and then we spent around a half hour shopping. I was drained when we got back. Obviously I`m going to have to take it easy for a bit. Major knee surgery and almost an entire month in bed has certainly taken its toll. Enjoying the change of scenery here tho. Thip`s condo is on the 5th floor and there`s a balcony with some great views over Bangkok. Off back to the English Club in Trat tomorrow for a couple of weeks. I`ll take it easy down there and see how things develop before deciding where to go next. I reckon it`ll probably be back here to Bangkok for a while and then onto Malaysia to film the Krishna temple openings in August. I then have a 3 month filming tour around SE Asia booked but I can put that back a few weeks if needed.
That`s it!... 6.40pm here and all ready to escape. lol . All cleared with doc now. Medication to see me thru currently being packaged... should be out within the hour. Just waiting to get drip needle removed from my arm. Initially being looked after by my Thai friend Thip who has spent the last 3 days by my side in the hospital. Nothing too much trouble for her and doesn`t expect anything in return because she`s Buddhist and Thai. A smile is enough
Nurse from the Philippines, my friend Almyra brings yummy pizza.
Phew...Notification from my travel insurers that they
would meet the cost of my treatment.
(Almost £20,000 for 3 operations
and 4 weeks in hospital).
