Initially I will fly to Thailand then on to it`s border counties, Malaysia and Cambodia in the south and Laos in the north and east. I am not yet sure about Burma (Myanmar), also in the north, as visa requirements appear to be a little tricky. My itinerary will probably look like this... Thailand (south) > Malaysia > Thailand (south) > Cambodia > Thailand (north or east) > Laos > back again to Thailand.
I intend to take road or rail journeys outbound and air back into Thailand as the inter countries airfares are cheap and allow me a 30 day visa on returning to Thailand which is not the case if entering the country by road. I will spend up to one month at each project. Vietnam is also close by and easy to reach so that may be another possibility.
My aim is to produce a fully edited video at least once every other week but whether I will be able to upload the video for the world to see is another story as it will depend on the internet connection I can get in each destination and any censorship issues (see * below). I expect to be able to write and post blogs at least once a week.
My videos will be based around the experience of volunteering abroad with a slant towards the more mature volunteer, an overview of the project I am working with, culture and local life. I will attempt to seek out local views on faith, politics, the environment and feature local traditions. *I understand the politics agenda may not always be possible as there are sensitive issues to be considered including censorship of free speech in some countries which I will have to be aware of.
All of the countries I have mentioned here have worthwhile charity and non profit projects I have contact with and so formulating the itinerary is where I`m now at.
I think I may be away for quite a while :)))))
