It is also for the many devotees and new friends I met during my stay in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and at the Krishna farm near Lanchang, Malaysia, to the thousands of Krishna devotees, members of Iskcon (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) and for those who wish to know a little more about the movement.
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare.

An Brief Introduction to the Krishna Movement...
The Krishna Movement follows an age old Hindu Vedic culture called the Bhagavad-gita. Rather than a religion, it is a cultural, philosophical and scientific movement who`s aim is to respiritualise the entire world by spreading the words of Lord Krishna as told in the words of the Bhagavad-gita. Once confined to India, the spread of this philosophy around the world has been attributed (in our lifetime) to His Divine Grace Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada who, in his seventies, came to spread the message, first, to the unlikely free thinking and promiscuous young people of the western world, in 1965. It is believed that the present age, the age we live in, is known as Kali, the age of quarrel and hypocrisy and that our civilization is lost in the darkness of materialism. The age of Kali lasts for thousands of years and is only part way through. In 1966, His Divine Grace Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) in New York. The society now has centres and Temples throughout the world and many thousands of devotees. Learning the technique of Krishna consciousness requires guidance and those who wish to become serious devotees study for many years. The practice of Krishna Consciousness is called Bhakti and individual devotees practice Bhakti under a spiritual master, or guru, also called an Acarya. Devotees must give 100% devotion to their spiritual master. Both devotees and spiritual masters must devote their entire lives to Lord Krishna. One of the easiest methods for self recreational, to transcend from material to spiritual, is the regular chanting of the 16 word Hare Krishna maha mantra: Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare. |
